Good Afternoon,
Today at approximately 12:30pm there was a physical altercation between two high school students. This altercation took place in the student parking lot. The Newport Police and Ambulance were called. One student was taken by ambulance.
There were several high school students that witnessed this altercation. These students were interviewed by the Newport Police. If you have a high school student, please take a few moments to discuss this with them. If you find that your child was a witness and did not speak to a police officer, please call the school so arrangements can be made. Please also inform your child, school counselors will be available if needed.
Please know that student privacy and safety is always a major priority.

Kindergarten pre-registration begins Thursday, April 6, for all incoming kindergarten Newport students for the 2023-2024 school year. In order for your child to qualify for kindergarten, you must be a Newport resident and your child must be 5 years old by September 30, 2023.

The New Hampshire Department of Education wants to hear from staff, families, and community members in our school community. The 603 Bright Futures Survey now through April 28. This survey will gather actionable feedback around learning models, school climate, family and community engagement and other topics in order to understand the successes and challenges of the recent school year and plan for the upcoming school year.

This event will consist of 2 keynote presentations followed by a short performance from Recycled Percussion.

The Newport School Board is looking for a member to replace and serve out the term on the School Board seat formerly held by William Wilkinson.
If you are interested, please send a letter of interest and respond to the four questions listed below on or before Monday, April 10, 2023.
In an effort to get to know more about your interest in serving on the Newport School Board, could you please respond to the following four (4) questions:

This is Donna Magoon, Newport Interim Superintendent. Due to snow cleanup still underway, unsafe walking conditions, power outages, and buses and cars unable to drive on many roads, The Newport Schools will change from a delayed opening to a school closure on March 15.
I apologize if this puts a burden on families, please know our goal is to ensure student and staff safety.
Due to school closure, there will be no extracurricular activities.

This is Donna Magoon, Newport Interim Superintendent. Due to the road conditions and clean up needing to be completed, power outages, and forecasted winds for tonight into tomorrow morning, the Newport School District will be having a 2-hr delay on March 15.
If we change from a 2-hour delay to a school closure, you will be notified.

Voting WILL take place tomorrow, March 14.
A big storm is heading our way - just in time for School District Voting Day!
In accordance with state law, since the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, residents can obtain an absentee ballot today.
If you would like to obtain a School District absentee ballot, please get in touch with your SAU office directly at 603.865.9500 or you can stop by between the hours 8:00am and 5:00pm.
Please know - This is for the School District Budget, not the Town Budget.
Stay safe out there!

The judging for Richards 100th Day Art Show is complete and 30 awards have been assigned. The top three are pictured below. The Best in Show Award went to Ryker Pickering for his diorama titled "We Come in Peace". Ryker is a student in Ms. Mosconas' room. The Artist's Choice Award went to Louisa Yfantis for her display of 100 (Handcrafted) earrings. Louisa is a student in Ms. Nix's class. The Director's Choice Award went to Cedric Aldridge for his watercolor jellyfish with ribbon tentacles titled, "I Jiggled Through 100 Days." Cedric is a member of Ms. Ferrigno's class. These projects and all the others can be viewed by the public at a reception on Tuesday, February 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The 100th Day projects are in and they are fantastic! Be sure to come to the Richards School 100 Day Art Show Reception on Tuesday, February 21 anytime between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. It is open to the public, so invite Grandma and Grandpa too--fun for the whole family!
Good Afternoon Newport Families,
This is Donna Magoon, Interim Superintendent. As you are aware the weather forecast for tomorrow morning, February 3, is between -5 and -10 degrees. Please make sure your child is dressed warm, especially if they are waiting at a bus stop or walking to school.
We have been informed buses may have a hard time starting, but our transportation department is on top of this. However if the bus is late for pick up, please be patient and understanding.
Thank you and please stay warm.
Students that have a bus stop on a dirt road will not have bus transportation to school today due to their road conditions. If your child is absent from school today due to this situation it will be an excused absence. You must call the school and let them know that this is the cause of the absence. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We were just recently made aware of this situation from one of our bus drivers.
