Good Afternoon,
Today at approximately 12:30pm there was a physical altercation between two high school students. This altercation took place in the student parking lot. The Newport Police and Ambulance were called. One student was taken by ambulance.
There were several high school students that witnessed this altercation. These students were interviewed by the Newport Police. If you have a high school student, please take a few moments to discuss this with them. If you find that your child was a witness and did not speak to a police officer, please call the school so arrangements can be made. Please also inform your child, school counselors will be available if needed.
Please know that student privacy and safety is always a major priority.
Please, if you have any questions, reach out to dmagoon@sau43.org. I will answer all questions that do not interfere with student privacy.
Thank you,
Donna, Interim Superintendent
