Water Wednesdays with Lake Sunapee Protective Association (LSPA); March 2025
Throughout the month of March, Nancy Heckel and Kathleen Stowell, from LSPA, brought hands-on lessons to our sixth grade students for “Water Wednesdays.” Lessons included creating a dishpan watershed, water quality testing through a simulated lesson on benthic bugs, testing water samples from Lake Sunapee, road runoff, and the faucet for turbidity, pH, and conductivity, looking at pollution and dilution of solutions, and creating models of groundwater to look at saturated and unsaturated zone movement and the water table. These lessons helped to enhance and connect student learning to sixth grade standards and competencies.
This was a HUGE success and we are thankful to have this community connection.
Our sixth graders were model students and active participants in these awesome lessons.
