Happy Tech Tuesday! We’re already diving into exciting new projects at SRVRTC. This week, our Engineering I students are building Catapults! This allows them to learn the basics of design, measurement, teamwork, and data analysis. This project will lead to the students creating their own carnival game using their learned skills and knowledge later in the year. We can’t wait to see their progress and the creativity they bring to the table. Keep up the great work, and let’s make this week another one to remember!

Welcome back to school, and happy Tech Tuesday! We’re thrilled to kick off the year with great energy and enthusiasm. One program we’re especially excited to highlight is our first-ever Level 2 Education & Behavioral Science class. After launching the program last year, this is the first time we’re offering the Level 2 course. We can’t wait to see the innovative projects these students will undertake and the incredible achievements they’ll reach this year!

Happy Tech Tuesday! Last week our welders had the amazing opportunity to be visited by our friends from the A&H Welding Academy in Dover, NH. The students watched a demo on downhill pipe welding and got to put their new skills to the test! It's amazing to see such a strong community of welders and educators in this state that come together and show our students what can be possible in their future, and the diverse opportunities within the welding industry.

Happy Tech Tuesday and Welcome to our new Business Lab! Come on in, students, we're open! This space, commonly referred to as our school store by the students, is a great place for students to stock up on snacks, hydrate, and get school apparel. For our Business students the lab is a great place to learn the ins and outs of how a multi-dimensional business works and is a great place to set the foundation for many skills they'll use in the future.

Happy Tech Tuesday! Today, we are reflecting on some of the incredible moments from this year's Winter Carnival! Our hearts are warmed by the unity and support we witnessed as our community and the Newport Rec Center came together to celebrate our special town and schools. The pride and dedication of our Tech students shone brightly through their breathtaking floats, a testament to their hard work and creative prowess! It was truly a great weekend. A special thank you to our teachers and Caleb Godwin for providing these great photos.

Happy Tech Tuesday! Have you wondered about the new building being constructed? We're raising beams and growing dreams! Our new building will be the home for our Forestry & Natural Resources, Animal & Plant Sciences, Floral Design, and Outdoor Recreation classes and more. Plus, it'll also be the cozy home to our school's greenhouse and animals. From roots to rooftops, futures are being constructed.

Happy Tech Tuesday! Can you believe it's already time to think about what classes you want to take next year? Time flies! Recently we had a "CTE Apply Day" event where students got to talk with teachers and other students from the programs they're interested in. We had a great turn out and can't wait to see the students who attended in class next year! Make sure you get your application in for our amazing CTE classes by the end of THIS WEEK!

It's Tech Tuesday! Today we're excited to highlight our Cosmetology program as they start to learn the in's and out's of makeup. It's amazing to see the growth in each of their skills as the year progresses. It's this collaboration between science and art that can truly create something remarkable.

Happy Tech Tuesday & Happy New Year! This Tuesday we wanted to reflect on just how amazing our 2023 was at the Tech Center. The Friday before break our CTE programs were able to spend time together and share stories from the year, eat tasty holiday snacks, and enjoy some fun activities. It is amazing to see how close our programs are and how they all work together to support each other. This collaboration cultivates the perfect environment for growth and education. Thank you to our wonderful teachers and dedicated students. We look forward to a great 2024!

It's Tech Tuesday! Our Animal & Plant Sciences program had their first opportunity to work with and study a group of playful German Shepherd puppies! The dogs will be able to visit our classes as they continue to grow. This gives the students the perfect opportunity to be able to observe how both the behavior and anatomy of these furry friends changes and develops over time.

Happy Tech Tuesday! Our Health Science Technology classes had the amazing opportunity to visit the "Body Worlds: Anatomy of Happiness" exhibit in Boston. The students saw the latest research on how both positive and negative emotions affect the entire human body. The students were able to get first hand exposure to topics they have been learning in class through interactive displays and awe-inspiring exhibits.

It's Tech Tuesday! Once a month some of our dedicated CTE students get the opportunity to mentor and help lead our 8th graders in an exploratory class in their programs. This is a great leadership opportunity for our students as they help to light the spark in their younger peers, and help them decide what programs they may be interested in for the years to come! Pictured are some 8th grade students proudly showing off their Welding skills with their mentors. The SRVRTC students helped them weld their initials onto a metal square, a memory that will last forever.

Happy Tech Tuesday! This year we are excited to have a new program at SRVRTC. It is our Education and Behavioral Science program. It's been amazing to see the passion the students have shown towards education this year. Here they can be seen working on a lesson that simulates how the two sides of the brain communicate with each other. Only one of the students in the pair could talk and they had to fold a paper airplane, then they had to close their eyes and try to make a paperclip chain.

It's Tech Tuesday! Our wonderful Animal & Plant Sciences Teacher, and amazing Forestry & Natural Resources teacher, accompanied six of our dedicated Future Farmers of America members to the 96th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. There was so much to learn from all the workshops and activities. It was truly a great experience for all who attended.
